Bali Beaches - Tanjung Benoa and Padang-padang

Tanjung Benoa is a beach dedicated to watersports. There are at least 10 types of watersports available, from jet skis to parasailing. This is a must-go place for adrenaline junkies!

The beach stretches along for quite a few kilometers and there are all sorts of water activities going on, both on the beach and in the sea.

The sun was scorchingly hot so we didn't stay for long, not being a fan of outdoor activities =)

Next we proceeded to Dreamland, another famous beach. The road leading to Dreamland runs through private property (belongs to son of Suharto or something), and was very well maintained. I was expecting to be pleasantly surprised with a gorgeous beach at the end of the road.

Unfortunately, the beach is no longer accessible directly by car. There's a designated pickup point and visitors must take a shuttle bus there. More opportunities to cash in on the beach's popularity? Disgusted, we did a U-turn and headed for Padang Padang beach instead.

Padang Padang is also a well-known swimming spot, albeit much smaller. To reach the beach, you need to walk down a series of steps, go through a narrow cave, before emerging to a hidden cove with pristine blue water and a sparkling white beach! There are beach umbrellas available for rent, for ladies who wish to do a lil' bit of sunbathing but wish to avoid excessive sun.

For such an isolated location, there's definitely a LOT of people :)
We saw a few surfer dudes braving the huge waves and having a ball of a time. Looks fun!

The water was crystal clear and cool, and ideal for swimming.

There were even 2 lifeguards posted at opposing ends of the beach (no pic).
Although the beach is fairly small, it is in tip-top condition. Given the number of people I see , this is no mean feat. See what I mean below??

I wonder if Dreamland is just as beautiful or even better. Too bad we didn't have the chance to go...
