Fengjia Music House 逢甲音樂屋
We got to know of this minsu after traversing forums and the Internet. It is a small minsu located off one of the alleys near Lie Mei Street (烈美街).
The place was not easy to find, so make sure you go prepared with the address!
Although the place was very small, the convenience and close proximity to the night market more than made up for it. We would be staying for one night before moving on to our next destination.
A toy soldier was ready to greet us at the entrance.
There were various themes, all about music, so each room has a different interior. Ours were bright and cheerful with sitars and cats painted on the walls.

Priced at TWD 1700 per night for a twin sharing room, the rates were pretty reasonable in my opinion. Breakfast is provided.
Only very basic amenities were provided so it's best to bring your own bathing essentials - it wasn't a problem for me because I always do that anyway.
If you are looking for a place that is convenient with no frills, then a minsu in the Fengjia area would definitely be a good choice. Bear in mind though that it's around half an hour's taxi ride away from Taichung Train Station.

How to go to Fengjia Music House:
From the HSR station, take the shuttle bus to Fengjia, and get down at Fengjia University. Further arrangements can be made to reach the minsu.
From Taichung Chaoma station, take buses 5,28,29,54,63 or 79 and get down at Fengjia University.
If you are taking a cab, get down at Taichung Xitun district number 106.

Another place that came highly recommended would be Eiffel Tower, but that's for some other time.
