Arriving at Taoyuan Airport

This is part of the fun Taiwan travel series. View the full itinerary here.

Due to the poor weather conditions at Hong Kong International Airport, flights were slightly delayed.  To cut a long story short, we finally arrived at Taoyuan International Airport 2 hours later than expected.

Suggestion:
If time is absolutely of importance to you,  pick a route that won't stop at HKIA. I would definitely do that next time.

The first stop we made was at the telco counter. After exiting the arrival gate, turn LEFT and walk around 10 meters. The telco counters are located side by side. I chose the 10 day  package with unlimited data plan at just TWD 500 feom Chunghwa Telco.

My suggestion:
A prepaid SIM with data plan is truely recommended if you are planning to stay awhile and travel on your own.

Next we headed down 1 level where all the bus counters are located. After asking around for the next available bus to Taichung, off we went. The bus fare cost us merely 240 each.

There are other ways of reaching Taichung, for example by High Speed Rail. It may cost a bit more but you get to beat the traffic jam. To reach HSR station, you can hop on a shuttle bus from Taoyuan.

Tip: If you are planning to go to either Fengjia or  Taichung city center by bus, DO NOT get down at HSR station. It is located 1 hour away from Fengjia! Get down at Chaoma instead. But if you plan to head directly to other attractions like Sun Moon Lake or CingJing, then HSR  station is a good choice.

Next we hopped on a taxi to reach our minsu for the night.

Next: Fengjia Music House @ Taichung Fengjia
