For Days 6 and 7 of our Taiwan trip, we would be engaging a driver to bring us around as the places we wished to visit had quite a distance in between.
Our friendly tour guide/driver Andy was a knowledgeable and chatty guy! We really enjoyed our experience with him showing us around.
Our first stop was at Nanya. It's a quick stop along the scenic northeast coastal road. There are several unique rock formations there, the most famous one being the ice cream cone shaped rock.
Under the bright sun, it is supposed to show off brilliant colors.
The weather was slightly cloudy when we arrived, so the colors were kind of dull.
Nature lovers will find this area to their liking as there are a lot of unique rock formations to explore in the cool and windy area.
We didn't linger too long in this area as it's off to our next quick stop - Yinyang Sea.
The whole area, being Jinguashi, used to be a mining hub for gold and other previous minerals before, and during the Japanese occupation. In the old days, mineral deposits would flow down from Jinguashi into the sea. Over time the deposits accumulate on the seabed and sunlight would reflect off the minerals, giving the sea a golden hue. The shape is similar to the yinyang symbol.
The colors have been contained there for a long time as the sea currents would always sweep the minerals back. The shapes will change according to the sea currents.
Next we headed to more scenic spots - Gold Waterfall and a spot little known to tourists, Wang You Gu.
