Wang You Gu 望幽谷 and Golden Waterfalls 黃金瀑布, Jinguashi, Taiwan

This is part of the fun Taiwan travel series. View the full itinerary here.

Wang You Gu 望幽谷 is a little known spot popular among hikers and bird watchers in Taiwan. It's located near to Keelung.

It's a beautiful and isolated place with a panoramic view of the Northern coast. There are no hints of civilization, apart from the occasional hiker. To get there, you need to drive.

Walk down a short flight of stairs and you will be rewarded with breathtaking scenery.

Amateur photographer that I am, the pictures really don't do justice to the view. You have to be there to experience it.

Watching the waves crash onto rocks from high above is an experience I would not forget. One could only get this feeling when surrounded by nothing but Mother Nature...

Next we stopped at Golden Waterfalls to take some pictures.

Water seeping through the mineral-rich rocks (with pyrite) cause them to undergo oxidization, and results in unusual sights like this waterfall. The waterfall has a yellowish tint and hence the name.

Upon a closer look the water is actually crystal clear. I wouldn't want to drink it though.

More pictures. See the rich yellow and brown hues found on the rocks?

After a short hike and taking in so much gorgeous scenery, it's time to fill our tummies. Lunch coming up next!
