Miyahara 宮原眼科, Taichung 臺中

This is part of the fun Taiwan travel series. View the full itinerary here.

On our second day, we had some spare time in Taichung before heading to Sun Moon Lake.
So we hailed a cab towards the middle of Taichung - to make a quick visit to Miyahara 宮原眼科.

Yong He Dou Jiang 永和豆浆It's a multi storey building that sells Taiwanese delicacies like pastries, sun biscuits and cookies.

The entrance.

Established in 1927. Not really sure of the origins. I guess this building used to be an eye specialist centre back in the 20s.

Biscuits and Dawncakes.

More Dawncakes. What an elegant name. I prefer to call it Sun Biscuits.

It's also very famous for its ice cream. A queue was already forming up at the entrance even though it was not yet open.

Being a lazy person who generally avoided queues, I went inside the shop directly. There is a vast selection of biscuits, all available for sampling.

Chocolates are sold there as well.

I really love the design and the high ceilings; natural lighting complements the interior very well.

How to get there:
No. 20, Zhōngshān Rd, Zhong District, Taichung City, Taiwan 400
