Keelung Miao Kou 基隆廟口, Taiwan

This is part of the fun Taiwan travel series. View the full itinerary here.

There is a well known street in Keelung that has lots of hawker food. Some might know it better as the Keelung Night Market, but in fact, the place is open all day.

After a morning well spent exploring scenic views of the northeast coast, we stopped at Keelung Miao Kou for lunch.

It's very popular among tourists and locals alight because of the variety of delicious food available. The place itself isn't big; it's a short street in front of the Mei Ji temple.

Some street food here that is not commonly found elsewhere would be the Ding Bian Cuo, and "Nutritious" Sandwich.

The stalls selling the nicest Ding Bian Cuo can be found at both sides of the temple entrance. It's like Hor Fan slices in seafood broth. Quite nice.

There are also a lot of seafood dishes and snacks.

This stall was extremely popular - we sampled the pork trotters and it tasted really good.

It's a great place to have lunch if you ever happen to be visiting Keelung.

How to go to Keelung Miao Kou:
By Train:
From Taipei Main Station take a Local Train (區間車) on Taiwan Railways to Keelung Station. Walk toward the pedestrian overpass in front of the harbor. Miaokou is behind the row of shops facing the harbor.

By Bus:
From Taipei Main Station, Exit M5. Find Kuo-Kuang Bus company. This is the quickest way to get to Keelung.
